Faculty Position Opening

The Department of Oceanography at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in the following areas: Marine Geology/Geophysics/Sedimentology/ Biogeochemistry and Marine Biology/Ecology/Biological Oceanography

NSYSU is renowned as one of the top research universities in Taiwan. Located along the coast of Kaohsiung, known as the “Southern Capital City,” it offers convenient access to the Kaohsiung International Airport. The city, with a population of 2.7 million, boasts extensive subway and bus networks, along with a vibrant atmosphere and diverse culinary offerings. The NSYSU campus is uniquely situated where the mountains meet the beach, providing one of the most scenic environments in Taiwan. Since its establishment in the 1980s, the College of Marine Sciences has been designated by the Education Ministry of Taiwan as a key institution for attracting top scientists, thanks to its strategic location near the airport, seaport, and ocean. The university operates an 800-ton research vessel to facilitate oceanographic research and education.

The Department of Oceanography seeks to recruit faculty members specializing in Marine Geology, Geophysics, Sedimentology, Biogeochemistry, Marine Biology, Ecology, and Biological Oceanography. Positions are available at various ranks, and salaries will be commensurate with the candidates' experience and achievements.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
1. A Ph.D. in one of the specified fields and more than two years of postdoctoral training if the doctoral degree was obtained recently.
2. A minimum of two years of research experience conducted outside Taiwan during their doctoral studies and postdoctoral work.
3. Proficiency in lecturing in both Mandarin and English.
4. A strong track record of research publications.
